WALT write a recount using the correct language features.
I know I can do this when I write a recount using the correct language features.

Rest home Visit
Have you ever been to a rest home and seen old people ? Do you know how it feels like to live in a rest home?

On Sunday 7th of September it was Father’s Day! The  Filipino community and I went to the Waipuna rest home hospital to sing to the elderly. We went inside to find that it was a bit empty. I said “ Where did everyone go?” Then my mum replied “ they’re in the lunchroom waiting to be serenaded”.
When we went in the lunchroom there were about 6 people waiting.  We set-up our things and got ready to sing. The kids and I had to sing “Dance  with My Father”.  At the end of the performance, it was kind of like I was singing alone because I was singing the loudest because I was holding the microphone. When I finished singing I cried because I felt really sad. I had such a bad feeling. I felt blue.....

My mum said, “ It’s just the beginning because there are more people on the other side,”. When we arrived at the other side I saw familiar faces. The choir and I sang Church songs and Contemporary songs. For the second time, I sang  “Dance with My Father” and I felt more confident singing it this time because there were more ladies than men.

When we finished singing the elderly people were crying and they said thank you to us by saying, “ You’re songs are better than Rock and Roll!” We went outside for picture taking afterwards.
I felt happy because I made the elderly happy and I was glad because I was able to sing for my dad in heaven.

    Happy Father's Day !
